Phonics
Our primary phonics scheme is Read, Write Inc. Through this scheme, our children are taught the 40+ sounds of the English alphabetic code. They then learn to blend these sounds into words, before being taught to read the same sounds but with alternative pronunciations. Attractive phonic books are closely matched to the children's increasing knowledge of phonics and tricky words. As children re-read the stories, their fluency increases along with understanding and enjoyment.
