Religious Education
The basis of our teaching of Religious Education is "The Blackburn Diocesan Syllabus for Religious Education", but like all secular subjects it is often integrated into project work of the class. In this the thematic approach is ideal. The starting point is the child himself building on his experience and growing awareness of himself, his relations with others and with the natural world.
"If children are to develop an understanding of religion there are certain skills and capacities which have to be developed. Exploration of experience depends on a developing awareness of self, other people and the natural world, and an ability to respond”. The skills necessary for understanding religion are the same as those in other areas of the curriculum.

Remembrance Day
On the 11th day of the 11th Month at the 11th hour the family of Beckermet stopped, prayed and remembered.
The children all made their own poppies and reflected through prayer.
We as a school joined together.
Harvest Festival
We joined together with our friends and family to celebrate our harvest festival. Maximus the mouse even joined us as harvest is his favourite celebration.
At this time of year we give thanks to God for our harvest of life.

Holy Week is the last week of Lent, the week leading us towards Easter. As we journey towards Easter Sunday, each class has helped us in our preparations by retelling some of the stories of Holy Week.
Reception Class/ Year One - Palm Sunday
Year 2 - The Washing of the feet
Year 3 and 4 - The Last Supper
Year 5 and 6 - The Crucifixion
Year 2 Class Assembly
On Friday the 8th March our year 2 class delivered their beautiful class assembly. Their theme was 'hope' and they sang wonderfully.
Ash Wednesday
This Lent in our school we are going to try and make a difference:
We will GIVE by cutting out something we enjoy, giving our time to others or offering our help and support
We will ACT by cutting out actions that harmful to our world
We will PRAY by taking 5 minutes out of our day to pray for all our friends and families in our homes, community and world.
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
